How your measurements become a flooring order.
We total the gross rectangles, subtract permanent exclusions, apply your extra-material allowance, then use exact product details only when you provide them.
Extra material
Order area = measured area × (1 + allowance %)
The allowance remains a user choice and is never changed automatically by flooring type.
Boxes
Boxes = round up(order area ÷ manufacturer box coverage)
Box results appear only when coverage per box is provided.
Plank count
Plank equivalent = area ÷ actual plank area
Plank results appear only for products with fixed dimensions you enter.
Before you buy
What this estimate assumes
- Every entered room, area, and exclusion is rectangular and non-overlapping. Exclusions are subtracted from the project total rather than assigned to a specific room.
- The default 10% extra-material allowance is an editable planning value. Product instructions and the chosen layout or pattern should take priority.
- Laminate, luxury vinyl plank, and hardwood use the same area formulas. Flooring type changes guidance only.
- Coverage per box and fixed plank dimensions are independent optional inputs. Manufacturer box coverage remains authoritative for box purchasing.
